Extending the Revolution to Every Desk and Doorstep
The Fourth Industrial Revolution is underway, driven by a fusion of disruptive technologies across all industries and yet not accessible to all. Billions of people are now connected by mobile devices, with unprecedented processing power and access to knowledge. Technology breakthroughs in fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, the Internet of Things and biotechnology, are transforming the way we live, work and interact with unlimited possibilities.
What is commonly referred to as the Fourth Industrial Revolution has deep economic, social, political, cultural and environmental impacts. To date, these changes have mostly benefitted those with access to the digital world, through both physical devices and data connectivity. In light of the looming threat of widening the existing inequalities, it is essential to think about the place of humans, and how this new industrial revolution can lead to more positive transformations that will improve people’s lives and how more people can be part of it.
