SMECEYI: We have our winner

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNERS

On Thursday November 4, 2021, we finally have attended the awarding ceremony of the Swiss – Middle East Circular Economy for Youth Initiative (SMECEYI), hosted at the Swiss Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

We launched this initiative in collaboration with Swissnex and with the support of Nestlé back in March 2021. It was aimed at finding students innovators from the region and empowering them by showcasing their projects to a global audience at the Expo 2020 Dubai. The initiative was also rolled out to enhance Switzerland’s bilateral relations in the Middle East region across the verticals of education, research and innovation.

Now, after 9 months of hard work from the different teams together with their mentors from Swiss universities and companies, the six finalists from all over the Middle East presented their very innovative projects to the jury and the public. Multigreen, Plasticycle, I-Collect, Nommas, Re-Loop and Sustainable Builders all defended their respective projects with ambition. Their solutions were celebrated as the fruit of Swiss-Middle East collaborations in science and technology.

It is with great joy and honor that we announce that the Plasticycle team is the winner of the Swiss Middle-East Circular Economy for Youth Initiative! Congratulations to all the team members on their work, effort and perseverance during the last months. We wish Plasticycle great success.

The winners get the unique chance of taking part in a boot camp organized by Nestlé in Switzerland in May 2022. There, they will be taking part in additional activities, such as workshops and joint panels, leading to unique networking opportunities.

Speaker: Petra Kopeckà, Global R&D Project Leader at Nestlé Health Science
  • “Presenting with Impact”, prepared by “Biz Group” in collaboration with Nestlé
    Speaker: “Biz Group”.

We would like to thank Nestlé for their support and for their presence during the final event at the Swiss Pavilion.
