Knowledge & Learning week

As part of the Knowledge & Learning theme week, at Expo, the Swiss Pavilion is highlighting education in tech and vocational training. Continuous learning is at the core of our lives. How we learn and teach is in constant evolution and the dawn of the 21st century is by far no exception. #LearningTomorrow is about how innovative solutions can address the current and future issues related to education.

The Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) within the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) is the Swiss federal government’s specialised agency for national and international matters concerning education, research and innovation policy. SERI works closely with the Cantons and professional organisations to coordinate vocational education and training. SERI is responsible for the following areas: Supervision and enactment of VET ordinances (formerly referred to as training regulations), Continued development of VET programmes and Establishing regulations for the Federal Vocational Baccalaureate.

SwissSkills promotes professional championships in Switzerland and enables young professionals to participate in the international professional championships WorldSkills and EuroSkills. Today it is supported by the federal government, the cantons and all relevant organizations in the world of work. It also promotes TVET thanks to its Ambassadors programme, which is composed of leading Swiss TVET alumni, most of whom take part in professional championships.

The Swiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training SFUVET is Switzerland’s expert organisation for vocational education and training. It offers basic and continuing training to VET professionals, conducts VET research, contributes to the development of occupations and supports international cooperation in vocational and professional education and training.

Ethafa is the Arabic word for STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. The Ethafa project was started to rethink how to bridge the gap in tech education and how to engage more Arabic girls in STEAM and technology disciplines. It is a project which originates from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI).
