The Swiss Pavilion is showcasing an installation titled “Swiss Fog Magnified” at the 14th edition of Art Dubai, which will take place from 29 March to 3 April 2021 at the Dubai International Financial Centre.
Inspired by the Swiss Pavilion design in Expo 2020 Dubai, and created by Bellprat Partner especially for this leading international art fair, “Swiss Fog Magnified” presents an abstract interpretation of a major highlight in the Swiss journey awaiting visitors in October 2021 during Expo.
For this third realisation on behalf of the Swiss Pavilion, the creative studio has decided to take a closer look at the sea of fog and transform it into an art installation. “Swiss Fog Magnified” recreates the tiny liquid water droplets that form a fog and closes in on the single elements that produce this mysterious and beautiful natural phenomenon, a cloud that touches the ground.
This art piece presents itself with a white and open cubic structure. Over a thousand crystal glass drops of different sizes and several facets are hanging from a mirrored ceiling, reminding the theme of the Swiss Pavilion “Reflections”. When entering in the installation you will find yourself surrounded by water droplets and shrouded in a thick blanket of fog.
Bellprat Partner has collaborated since 2018 when Switzerland introduced for the first time the Swiss Pavilion to the public bringing a mirrored façade installation to Art Dubai. Later on, the country exhibited the Swiss Pavilion’s sun umbrellas at Dubai Design Week 2020. This time the art installation turns the spotlight on the sea of fog.
Based on a journey, the Swiss Pavilion exhibition at the Expo is subdivided into three dramatic acts evolving around Switzerland, the land of bucolic nature and Switzerland the land of innovation.
Bellprat Partner is a design studio for the conception and realisation of exhibitions, brand worlds, tourist destinations and world expos. The studio is located in Zurich and works worldwide since 1981. They are in charge of the Swiss Pavilion scenography at the Expo 2020 Dubai.
The 14th edition of Art Dubai will take place under the iconic Gate Building at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) from 29 March – 3 April 2021, in a purpose-built structure ensuring the highest COVID-19 safety protocols.
The fair will feature 50 galleries from 31 countries with a focus on modern and contemporary art from the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and the Global South including ten of Dubai’s top galleries.
